Abstract

Trabadillo, the mixture of lime and gypsum, is a traditional technique with a long history, commonly used in construction until very recently. The combination of both materials provides a superior performance that cannot be achieved separately. It is therefore an optimal option for many different applications in construction, especially those that require the combination of the deformability of gypsum with the strength of lime and those that require the construction of thick pieces. However, nowadays this technique is seldom used and practically forgotten and its material remains are being systematically removed in contemporary interventions which ignore its value and its properties.
